Mavado Impersonated... Gyptian Number 1 and Kartel Clarks..rea rae rae

With the fact that many top dancehall artiste are not able to travel due to various country bans and US Visa restrictions, this has more or less presented opportunities for the 'second string acts' to take the stage.
Apart from that the already restricted artiste like Vybz Kartel ..seem to be always on the move to carve out an opportunity wherever possible, to open doors even when so much are closing around him. The most recent of travelling bans are the ban in Barbados and St. Lucia....further crippling the DJ's chances of garnering any decent income. The latest in his attempt to pay his bills is the possible development of a shoe bran called "west bank" and the opening of a night club in Portmore ..which fell through recently but he indicated that steps will be taken to create more avenues for that kind of venture. The Clark's craze still lingers, therefore some really question as to how can he stimulate Clarks sales and have so much difficulty with his album sales... though the clarks tune is currently ..(i.e. as at April 21, 2010) number 86 on the iTunes Reggae Top 100 chart...

For the likes of Mavado, increase in dubs and the further development of his gully wear and wrizzla products is probably, even though the visa restriction seem temporary. The increase in the amount of shows on the local scene and the rest of the world are very much an option, and is currently being executed.
One of the more interesting thing I have seen thus far is the impersonations of the artiste. Although the tracks were released long before the visa restriction on Movado.. a strong opportunity now exist for the impersonators to cashing ..through means such as dub plate production etc....To the ardent alliance gully fan they can easily pick out the impostor.. but for all intent and purposes and with an overriding beat, chances are, the average dancehall fan may not even be close to picking  up or even interested if its really Mavado. I can remember when Mavado came on the scene he was not amused about the splicing of his tracks and it lead to serious clashes where the police even got involved.. so im not sure if he will be interested in getting to the bottom of this one.

Busy Signal is one top act that doesn't have a US visa and he seem to not let that bother him... the DJ has carved out a US Visa-less niche for himself.. Currently riding on the waves of "gary" Busy has perhaps never had it so good his tune Baby One more night is Number 88 on the same itunes top 100 reggae chart. Right now the man on top of the charts is Gyptian, he has no problems not even with a lesbian splicing his track and rubbing all over it... yeah not all rastas are the same..the track "Hold Yuh" is currently Number One on the itunes top 100 Reggae Chart

  1. Sometimes I just think that people write and dont really have much to say. Not so here. You definitely have something to say and you say it with style, my man! You sure do have an interesting way of drawing people in, what with your videos and your words. Youve got quite a one-two punch for a blog!
