Kumina Vs Daggering
The maroons seem not too pleased when comparison is being made between rampin, daggering and Kumina aka Bruckings. The latter is traditional, culturally toned, African heritage dance. The Gleaner article (read here) spoke about the link between the two and some stalwarts were not too pleased.
But mi a check back and a look and mi a seh... them not that far off still. A mean there is strong sexual tone to the whole thing...when I was younger I use to noticed how Kumina aka brukins were quite sexually charged and love to participate for some strange reason even though I liked beating the drums. But as Mr. Rex say ...daggering crossed the line.. drop dead a mean wtf..
Anyway they need to tone it down a bit.. they trying to over impress.. them make thing a aget ban and ll these things.. so just cool.
Mavado too Unique
All what a gwaan the foreigners love the arms-house. Anything we do them pick it up. A mean reggaeton cant get any closer. And according to the article they have some issues to deal with as well in regards to dances derive from that genre of music.
But im wondering about the copy thing (yeah mi favourite topic) .. if they would now pick up the genre that Mavado and Serani a popularize.
In an article by Pat White (weh look like she love off the gully god) pointed out that Mavado's thing was too special and therefore cant be touched. His style is too unique and hard to copy and not every one can have that kind of melody. ..cough cough..
Is a matter of time you will find a million Mavado bout the place... a mean since Bob died there has been a whole lot of bobby socks.
